Hi Michael, I was able to figure out how to read your previous blog. I honestly don't think that Obama deserved the Peace Prize, considering the trials and tribulations that other peace prize winners experienced. I am not trying to denigrate anything else Obama has accomplished, as I like him, but wish he had won the Peace Prize for a more substantial accomplishment.

Hi Michael, I am sorry I was unable to read your blog until tonight and it was really very interesting to me for several reasons. One, I have family ties in the area, and two, I used to be an idealistic young woman. My late father was a very good man, and he always emphasized on judging people by their character and not by their color. He never explicitly said it, but I gathered pretty quickly how immoral it was to do so. So when I went to a woman's college in Virginia, I was shocked when my African-American friends had told me, on our way to a party, that they had their token white girl with them. They explained they couldn't get into some of the parties without a white escourt. They shared other injustices with me, and I think I started to grow up at that point, realizing that we weren't past mistreating each other yet. I'm not sure why I felt compelled to tell you all of this, except to say I could relate, to a point, of your story that you told.
